It’s hard to place someone like Daisy into a particular genre, or any box at all, for that matter. Born in a small city in southern California, raised on a ranch down there, cowboy and country music shaped the way she tells stories— with deep honesty and sharp lyricism. Attending Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee and working on Lower Broadway after graduating, she continued to hone her craft and expand her music influences by collaborating with all kinds of characters, some good and some very bad influences, including those that inspired her new album. 

“This album, these songs, they were a survival mechanism for me,” Daisy reminisces. “Trying to piece together fragmented memories and an attempt to heal the immense trauma from the end of the relationship.” 

The relationship in question was a violent one— and this album, pardon the pun, pulls no punches. It’s a powerful exploration of her boozy, drug-filled descent into fear and madness, followed by the slow crawl back to the light. The light, in question, she found through friends, family and therapy as well as a move back to the west— specifically, Boise, Idaho, where she currently resides and matriculates. 

“It’s good to be back out west,” she says. “I love Nashville, and find my way back as much as I can, but I squeezed everything I could out of my time there. These mountains are a whole new adventure for me.” 

Daisy certainly lets the geography and seasonality of wherever she is inspire her music, with lyrics specific enough to make you think she wrote this song just for you— and that goes for everybody. Sonically, she’s managed to meld classic country, southern rock and funk into something completely addicting on this new record, and she’s not slowing down. 

“I’m excited about this new era,” she says. “I’ve done my healing and now I hope this album helps other people do theirs. But I’m always thinking about the next thing, and I’ve already got ideas for what I want to do after this. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
